Peig’s Lounge Bar
We were proud to work with Peig's Lounge Bar on the refurbishment of one of Portlaoise's most historic and recognisable pub frontages in the heart of Market Square. The project involved carefully restoring the existing façade, carrying out essential repairs to the timber and render, and sympathetically preparing the building for a complete repaint. Finished in a striking Moonlight Lagoon colour and complemented by elegant new signage, the transformation has given Peig's Bar a fresh new look while preserving the character and heritage of this iconic town centre landmark.
James Brown Painting & Decorating were delighted to work alongside George and the team at Peig's Lounge Bar on the refurbishment of one of Portlaoise's oldest and most recognisable commercial frontages. The project began with the careful removal of the existing signage, followed by repairs to damaged timber and render to ensure the building was properly prepared before any painting commenced. Throughout the project, particular care was taken to preserve the character and historic features of this landmark building.
With the preparation work complete, the frontage was primed before being finished using a carefully selected palette from the Dulux Heritage range. Moonlight Lagoon was chosen as the principal colour across the ground floor façade, creating a rich, timeless appearance that perfectly complements the building's historic setting. Cashel Clay was used to highlight the decorative mouldings and architectural detailing, while New Wool provided a subtle contrast to the upper façade, helping to retain the building's traditional character while giving it a fresh, contemporary finish. Every stage of the work was carried out with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the finished result respected the property's heritage while enhancing its presence in the heart of Market Square.
The transformation was completed with the installation of striking new signage by Brendan Deevy Signs. Featuring black-backed sign panels with elegant gold trim and lettering, the new branding complements the Dulux Heritage colour scheme perfectly, giving Peig's Bar a distinctive new identity while celebrating the history and character of one of Portlaoise's best-known public houses.
